Deqing County is situated at the northern part of Zhejiang Province, right at the hinterland of the Yangtze River Delta, facing Shanghai to the east, Hangzhou to the south, Taihu Lake to the north and the piedmont of Tianmu Mountain to the west. With 8 towns and 4 sub-districts under its administration, Deqing County has a land area of 936m2 and population of 4300,000.

　　Situated by the Yubu River, Deqing was named according to the connotation of political and moral cultures (De) as enlightened (Qing) as water. Poet Ge Yinglong at Song Dynasty noted in his Zuo Gu Ting Ji that, "The County is enlightened due to the river, while the river is more beautiful due to the residents. So it is called Deqing." Deqing has many former names in the county development history of near 1800 years, such as Yongán, Yongkang, Wukang, Wuyuan and Linxi. In the second year of Tianshou in Tang Dynasty (691 AD), 17 townships in the east border of Wukang were united and set as Wuyuan County, which was then changed to Linxi County, and further changed to Deqing County in the first year of Tianbao (742 AD). From Dynasty Song to Dynasty Qing, the names of Wukang and Deqing were used. In 1958, Wukang County was merged into Deqing County and set as Wukang Town. Deqing boasts a large number of historical cultural relics and remains such as the thousand-year Yunxiu Temple and the stone bridges in Song Dynasty, and also a large number of historical and cultural elites such as Shen Yue, Meng Jiao, Guan Daosheng and Yu Pingbo.

　　Deqing is featured by "Five mountains, one river and four fens of field", and has the honor of "Land of fish and rice, Home of silk, Place with famous mountains, Land of bamboo tea, and County of cultures". With long history, Deqing has the relics of Liangzhu Culture and the legend of ancient Fangfeng Culture. Deqing has the Mogan Mountain, which is the national scenic area and one of China's four major summer resorts; the Xiazhu Lake, which is "the most beautiful wetland in China" and the ancient town of Xinshi, which is known for "Thousand-year ancient canal and hundred-year small-Shanghai".

Wukang is only half an hour's drive from downtown Hangzhou, within 2 hours' drive from the core cities of in the Yangtze River Delta such as Shanghai, Ningbo and Nanjing, and only 40 minutes' drive from Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport. With the operation of Linhang Logistics Park and Deqing Port Park, the Yangtze River Delta Financial Backstage Base is the only financial backstage base approved by the provincial government in Zhejiang Province and is listed in the third batch of provincial service industrial clustering demonstration areas.
