Located in the hinterland of the Yangtze River Delta, Deqing has Shanghai to the east, Hangzhou to the south, Taihu Lake to the north and Tianmu Mountain Range to the west, the terrain being high in the west and low in the east. Tianmu Mountain Range extends into the west of the county where Mogan Mountain, a famous summer resort with a domestic and world renown, is situated. The central part is spread with hills and plains and the eastern part with plain and canal towns. The county belongs to the subtropical humid monsoon region, with a warm and humid climate and four distinct seasons. The annual average temperature is 13-16℃.
Deqing County covers a total area of 936 square kilometers, with 8 towns and 5 streets under its jurisdiction. With a registered residence population of 440,000, it is known as “a land of fish and rice, a land of silk, a land of famous mountains, a land of bamboo and tea, and a land of culture”.
