Deqing is located in the Yangtze River basin, a cradle of Chinese civilization, with cultural roots traceable back to the Paleolithic era over 100,000 years ago. The Liangzhu culture in the late Neolithic period symbolizes the dawn of Deqing civilization. Deqing is known as the “Source of Chinese Porcelain,” promoting the inheritance and development of the “Source of Jiangnan” culture, and it still retains a wealth of historical and cultural relics, including ancient bridges from the Song and Yuan dynasties, the tomb of Zhao Mengfu from the Yuan dynasty, and the millennium-old Yunxiu Temple. “Sweeping the Silkworm Blossom Land” and “Fangfeng Legend” have been included in the national intangible cultural heritage list. The “Traditional Cultivation and Utilization System of Freshwater Pearls in Deqing, Zhejiang” has been recognized as an important agricultural cultural heritage in China.
